Before 2019, I wasn’t even aware of the severe impairment of committing suicide until a schoolmate killed himself due to a psychological problem. We’ve got a significant repercussion on campus, and everyone was curious and shocked. The bereaved were unwilling to publicize the ultimate cause, and people naturally respected their choice. Eventually, the bizarre phenomenon of death brought me to a deeper exploration.

What’s worth mentioning is that I use Urban as the theme of the works because of the massive suicide in an urban area, and a more significant percentage of people living in the city would have suicidal thoughts. Later, I also heard a lot of sad news from my neighbours and friends while in Canada and London. More seriously, this turned out to be a common social phenomenon. Depression needs more social attention, and we must consider why our life has changed like this. Walking down the city centre road in a crowded modern city, I felt puzzled. I hoped to discover the stories behind the treatment for depression, concentrating on the social problems that cause death and attempts to find out the “Exit” of the painful situation.
